True Blood Gossip

Hey guys, hope everything is coming OK with your ads so far. Anyways i wanted to re-post the brief (I put it below). I found some fun websites to check out to give you more ideas. I also added a few notes as far as guidelines for you guys:
1. Remember stay away from the easy idea of using sex, or sexy characters to sell this show.Yes sex does sell but so does humor and intellect your target is 25 & up, they do not want to be treated like they are love sick teenagers who are obsessed with vampires. I want you to dive deeper into the show. If you are having a hard time coming up with ideas shoot me and email ecsv23@gmail.com or if I don't get back to you, just give me a call 415-233-2603. I have seen most of this series so if you have any questions or ideas about characters that you are unsure about I am happy to give you feedback
2. As far as colors and tone go I want you to try to keep up with the creepy deep south tone it somewhat has as of now, the reason I say that is, if you decide to put these adds in your books and you used light tones or happy font, well lets just say the creative might be a little confused, I am in no way telling you how to do your ads, i just want you to make it fluid.
3. I know I said this in class but if you can try to move away from print, there are a million ways to get in touch with the target, so try something new and fun! (remember this can include something like merchandise, teaser micro-sites, door hangers, etc)
4. I found some new sites for you to check out
http://www.daemonstv.com/2009/08/08/best-true-blood-websites/ this website has discussions on the series, it also has a billion links to other true blood sites so check it out.
http://true-blood.tv/ this is another good one. This site is more of an archive site, so it could really hep you out.
True-Blood.net
http://www.hbo.com/trueblood/season2/ (already gave you this one)

5. The brief:
Why advertise?
While HBO has been hugely successful with its hit series “True Blood”, the series is being thrown in the same category as the younger generations “Twilight” and “Vampire Diaries”. This is not the right target or market for this series. “True Blood” is a much darker series with all the gore, sex, and violence a cable network could never get away with. This is not a comedic teenage love story, the characters are older and their situations much more grown up.
What do we want to accomplish?
We want to create interest with an older crowd, and get away from advertising only the sexual side of the show. We need to prove to the new audience that there is way more to this show. Every show (especially the supernatural ones) uses their sexy cast to get people to watch, yes this cast is good looking but this show has vampires, shape shifters, voodoo priestess, fairies, werewolves and ever other crazy supernatural being ever think of. This show has love triangles (and then some) it has murder and sabotage, it has love and sex! Lets try this from a different point of view, that will entice people to give this series a try
Who are we trying to talk to?
Male and female 25 & up.
(The characters in this show are around 24-173 yrs old; there are no young adults in this show.)
What insightful things do we know about them?
At this age the idea that life is simply just a party seems to have worn off, mostly because now that they are out of collage they are paying their own bills and going through the process that is “adulthood”. They are very busy now (work or maybe starting a family) and not always doing things that they want (like balancing their checkbook). So when they get the chance to turn on the TV and sit down and take a break from all the chaos they don’t want something that is going to take a lot of effort, they want something that even if they miss a few episodes her and there it’s still somewhat easy to follow along. They also don’t want to watch a teenage soap opera; they want something that fits with them. As an adult you want to watch something that is exactly that, adult.
What is the most effective message?
True Blood is candy for adults.

OK that's all, let me know if you need anything else!
