Kamil and I have been working on the look of our Dexter campaign.
This is the basic layout for the billboard, we're working on the slides and blood (it'll be on a slide instead of the plain white background). Do you think the font works well with the campaign?
Are you going to put "Dexter" anywhere on there?
ReplyDeleteNo, we're targeting already existing fans. Theres going to be blood on the slide and i guess fans already know what thats about.
ReplyDeletedo you think its better with dexter on it?
I don't know, I just thought it was kind of a part of the logo, like how you have to have Showtime on there. But, if you're already targeting an existing audience then I guess not.. but to me it's just like, I don't know, capitalizing a name or something. Something you should do?
ReplyDeleteI think i would stick to what DEXTER is using now. The clean, condensed font version. Your idea is very straight forward, smart and clever usage of the show's core elements. You don't want to ruin it because of the font treatment. You have blood already and from a billboard's point-of-view, you need it to read as quickly as possible. Unless there's traffic.
ReplyDeleteMake the font consistent even on the "Sundays at 9pm".
Have you tried playing with the font part of the blood stain/splatter? It might feel more cohesive. Or since you have a large area of blood, have you tried making the font color of your text black? These are just suggestions.
About the logo. You definitely need the logo. You will need the SHOWTIME logo, but not as big like the one posted. Maybe in just the corner.
Good luck.
Hey guys (michele here)
ReplyDeleteFROM NOW ON... Let's call this project: YOUSAYI
Project names will make things easier to refer to and we'll have a clear understanding on how far the campaign element is coming along.
Posting should include group names - code name.
(Taiyo, Kamil, Michele, Tim - YOUSAYI)
This is great! You guys are awesome - keep this up!
It speaks to the fans and accomplishes the communication goals of the brief.
Although they know this is a quote from Dexter.... It's most likely something that we can apply in our own dark thoughts.
MORE GOOD NEWS:
I Did some market research with our stage one work on coworker who is a deep/dark/ true -Dexter fan.
Showed her some of the things we were working on and with out telling her what we were going for.....
She nodded her head and said "THats AWEsOME." I could tell she meant it. We have successfully spoken to our target !
The tone we use is RIGHT on. Captivating and suspenseful. Lets not make DEXTER too big, if we decide to include the word. I don't think it's necessary...(my hunch) Our fans would would appreciate the message sans the show title.
Now, all we need is to incorporate this into other executions.
We need an element or a mark...
Refer to the instructor's comments... Can we warp a few letters to make them bleed? Can we turn this billboard into a slide?
Can we add a stack of slides on the bottom?
How can we take this flat billboard and make it sharper?
Type in "sharp" into the visual thesaurus. Hit the "Try" button. A think map will pop up relating words or objects to "sharp." Move your mouse (carefully) around the map..... :)

Again, keep up the good stuff. I can't wait to see the stars execution!
