Virginia Ad Agencies

My state is Virginia and though I have looked at over ten agencies. There is only one that has recognizable work on a national level for me. The biggest agency in Virginia that handles some big money accounts is Martin Agency located in Richmond. It actually impressively ranks to make the top five agencies in the nation, according to Adv Age, #3.

Ever wonder who worked on Geico? yup, this is them, alright. They created the well known little Gecko and also worked on Walmart's campaign "Save money, Live Better." In additon to their crazy account list, they are the agency who created the freecreditreport.com commerials with the lead singer in a band singing the songs about what happened to him when he didnt check his credit. Who doesn't know these commercials?

To extend the same campaign:
My add-on idea for this freecreditreport.com campaign is to have street bands, local bands, or hire bands to actually post around cities in areas with major foot traffic to sing these songs in person. It would just as funny, if not even more memorable and entertaining in person. Since this campaign speaks to everyone with credit or identity to worry about, I feel like it can be effective way to reach out even further.
Also, in cities such as Las Vegas and NYC, the cabs run videos with full sound on small TV screens int he backseat. It usually shows local ads. I thought this would be a cool place to show their current commercials and/or show the bands in the particular city it's featured in singing the same songs. (i.e. in NYC, they'd feature a band posted and playing at Time Square or Soho singing one the freecreditreport.com jingles)
Another add-on place that would work well is the gas stations TV's at the pumps. (Shell gas station here in SF has them)

Swirl is located in the Financial District of San Francisco at 1620 Montgomery Street #140. I have actually been to this agency and it is humble in size and location, but gives you a great feeling when walking through the doors. They have a wall full of awards, which pretty much leaves you speechless.

1. It's a world clock with Oasis of the Seas feel on it. It's an ambient and it says that it is a city.
2. This is how the ambient looks like, it looks like a billboard too, but it is a real clock so i call it ambient, it actually really works as a clock, not just picture.
3. This is the road sign that you usually find on the highway, but this time i want to make it as a billboard, i find this interesting, it says that it's a city, i don't know what you think.

Ok, so... This is kind of a test. There's no ships on billboards on the buildings, cause I can't really use this picture. It is shot in the strong sun light and the shadows have a lot of contrast. To duplicate the shadows on the 3d text (This text is actually 3D) would take me forever and a little bit more.

I also wanted to make the text bigger, but people are in the way.

I had a hard time to find a picture of a square plaza with buildings around it (where i could place billboards), without people and without strong contrast shadows. I can't shot the Union Square cause there's stupid ice-skating ring in there. So If anyone, and I mean ANYONE has a picture of a square plaza that would work here, send it to me, pleeeaaassseee!

It has a central park, a lot of trees and because it is so big that it's considered to be something like a tiny island from up here. Okay, so the 1st one is my updated web banner. I think it looks better this way, I played with the color so it goes with the rest of the campaign and has a more "Oasis of the Seas" feel. I also show how it'll look on the weather.com website.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th is the updated version of bus shelters and print. The guy who came in last week said he liked the concept but he felt like i should do 3 of these, not 2, and have the "The biggest floating city on earth" line down below and no headline, and I think i like it this way. So the 2nd one is the parade at the central park, as you can see (i know it is very small), there's no line anymore, but my point by taking off the line is to show that it is in the middle of the ocean and you can clearly see it. I changed the lightgloom into just a darker light, but you can still see it, and put the tone of the music (do i say it right? it's the thing that you usually find in a musical book)
The 3rd one is the Rave Party. I did the same and I make some addition close to the light to make it looks like a rave party is going on.
The 4th one is the carousel at the boardwalk, and have some movements of light around the small light to make it looks like a carousel is going on there. All these three (carousel, party, and parade), they really going to have it on the ship. Let me know what you think, thank you very much.

This is an ad for Tim's Oasis of the Seas.

I'm not sure if it is too much of the see/say. I also don't know if I should add an image of the ship above the logo (I tried and it looked bad).

That would be a print ad.

Another headline: "Other ships orbit us." would be for a billboard. And the third headline: "We make the horizon self conscious." would be a sticker on a window of SF restaurant called: "Carnelian Room", where from the window one can see the ocean horizon. (picture attached)

So tell me if this is the right direction and what should I change.

I choose an agency in Boston called MMB. They specialize in Interactive advertising, but they also do other medias. Their biggest clients are: Subway, eMusic, ESPN, Harvard Business School, L.L. Bean, International Found for Animal Welfare.

They won many awards:

Advanced Media Arts/Entertainment: Emmy Award for Harvard Business School, 2007 Mercury Radio Awards: Grand Prize for Subway, London International Festival: Gold Award for Subway. And others. Most of the awards are for Subway Restaurants ads.

I decided to branch off of Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, their current campaign for Target. Along with their holiday commercials (Black Friday spots), they also are doing a promotion for Pearl Jam and their CDs. Pearl Jam held a secret, intimate concert at the Showbox in Seattle, WA and they played in front of a green screen where W+K was able to put the target icon on the screen in the back.

The people behind O'Dell have a range in background experience in the industry, but have the connecting element of experience to make them a good team. Since the agency launched in 2008, they have been recognized in a number of categories including "Best use of social media" (by Flashpoint PR) as well as claiming two Gold Pencils from the 34th Annual One Show. -Fun clients like LEGO, provides opportunity to bring out an almost natural, true to the heat dedication. The products with a "childlike" mentality is an avenue to fully use creativity and ask the consumers to do the same (where they have done exactly that) connect with the "kid mentality" we all love to bring out.

-Established products like Corona. That simply speak for themselves as great bran ding tactics. Clients like this integrate strategy and tactic to produce sales.

The agency did a case study showing their ability to communicate with a target market & create a personality for Corona. The summer long reach utilized the popularity factor for a great time to drink Corona. In fact, they came up with even more reasons to drink a Corona; they made a tear off flip calender with a different game, fact list or message for an entire summer in NYC. All of these key things were collected to make up themes, labels, and reasons to party for the day. Each tear off had a personality in design and included a subtext with factoids & humor pointing out clues & tips on finding and enjoying a cold Corona. At the point of purchase, they used inbar promotions such as Beer garden Bingo or made up combinations like Corona w/ lime ice cream day. They called it this period Summerbration (summer + celebration).

Working backwards for this concept, I imagine a brainstorm bringing out the most commonly associated thoughts about summer. Choosing a place that Valued summer might be a good place to link linguistics and emotion. For example, take the word "Flip FLops." And take two regions, or more specifically, 2 states: California and New York......... The way a Californian feels about flip flops is not on the same page as a New Yorker does! "Flip Flops" to a New Yorker are a sign of ease. They represent less work (no scraping the windsheild off of ice) and comfort, (residents can walk out the door with a light jacket as opposed to the down ajcket, warm cap, gloves, and scarf they wore during the months of winter).

The agency fills some big shoes, being a full service ad agency with what seems to be a small team.

Carlson Marketing, an incentive industry pioneer and one of the largest firms in the business, announced this morning that it was being purchased by Montreal-based loyalty management firm Groupe Aeroplan for $175 million.

What are we advertising?
Royal Caribbean has a new cruise ship. It’s design was made for it to be the most innovative ship of it’s class and the world’s largest ship. Oasis of the Sea needs to be brought to the attention of consumers.

What do we hope to accomplish?
Since there is a vast variety of cruises and ships consumers need to become aware of the innovations and what makes this ship different from the rest. We need to make Oasis of the Sea stand out from all other cruise lines and ships. We need to make the consumer want to go on a vacation and Oasis of the Sea should be there only destination in mind.

Target:
The person that always wants more. I want the best of both worlds. The “I’ll have my cake and eat it too, and screw it, give me a pie too.” This person has “one-upper-itous,” they want to have the best story to tell, and they want to see it all.
They just want to make the most out of their life. They are the big talkers, leaders, and the ones that get into some wacky adventure of a group. Even with their “one-upper-itous” they always have fun follow them.

Insights:
Even though they are the big talkers and the adventurous ones, they don’t tend to be the people that stray too far from the norm. If something is way too different they get uncomfortable – the reason they need the best of both worlds. They want the extreme and the familiar. They are the kind of people that will jump in with too feet as long as there’s an “oh, shit bar” close at hand. They would never admit to that though; they have a lot of pride, or they are just stubborn, but most likely both.

Key message:
Oasis of the Sea is a multi-vacation on land at sea.

Tone:
Snappy, fun, humorous, ironic, and epic.

They are a small, local agency located at Pier 33, near Fisherman's Wharf. They've recently worked on advertising for the new California Academy of Arts in Golden Gate Park. They are on the smaller side of agencies, and believe in that sort of close-knit environment with big, creative ideas. Another big account of theirs is EA Sports, they recently did the "Skate It" campaign, as well as the Need for Speed and Dead Space games. I feel like this would be a great agency to work at because of the small environment that goes hand-in-hand with their big visions.

The US Census has created a list that reveals the best cities in the US for singles of either sex. We've divided it by best cities to male and single and best cities to be female and single…just remember…the best city for one sex, makes it the worst city for the other sex.

BEST FOR MEN

• New York Metro: Single Women outnumber men by 210,000. No wonder the New York Yankees players have so much luck with the ladies.

• Washington D.C. and Philly: Over 50,00 more single men than women. With all those fancy dates Obama keeps throwing Michelle…no guy can possible measure up.

BEST FOR WOMEN

• Los Angeles: Nearly 90,000 more unmarried men than women…that would explain the scene last weekend at Teddy’s…dudes a plenty. No wonder Paris loves Los Angeles.

• San Francisco: 65,000 more single men that women. It’s possible there’s a little more going on than the census reveals in that stat.

So many single men in L A because most of these women want a man with cash. The rich guy typically has 3-7 women that are sharing him. The average guy gets left out. There is the gay factor, too.

**The Ila and Goggle creatives can be turned in for the finals. It won't count as 1 of your 3 campaigns, but there is no harm if you turn it in, it might give you extra credit and good addition to your book. These are one offs and you can turn them in as a one off. You can definitely branch these 2 assignments into integrated campaigns as well. For example, when you design the goggles, you can branch this out by integrating the look and feel to any media placement (t-shirt, posters, olympic venues, souvenirs). Remember, this will be featured during the winter olympics, this will be more of an integrated branded campaign. Art Directors: this is an easy campaign to design, and a good addition to your book, it's a big brand (Adidas).

Hi Ryan, i have a quick question. You said before just to shoot the bottle and photoshop (crop) the shadow. Is this the kind of shadow that you want? i'm just showing two of my shots, i have so many with me, but the two that i'm showing here is the one with soft shadow and the one with darker shadow. i'm just looking for a perfect shadow to be put in my comps, need your opinion badly, thankss!!!

This is our website takeover for Accu-Chek. So when you roll over a button, the blue circle will pop out and it will say how easy it is to get your blood glucose level checked. There's also a banner with the strip and when you roll-over, the same thing will happen.
